Fashion Styling (Makeup Look) and Fashion Photography Workshop held at FDDI Kolkata


The School of Fashion Design (FD), FDDI Kolkata, organized a three-day Makeup and Fashion Photography Workshop from 16th to 18th December 2025 to provide students with hands-on, industry-oriented exposure to professional makeup, styling, and photography. Conducted by experienced industry professionals, the workshop aimed to enhance students’ technical skills, creative abilities, and professional readiness.

The first day focused on Makeup and Bridal Styling, covering essential and advanced techniques such as skin preparation, foundation matching, contouring, eye and lip makeup, and finishing methods. Special emphasis was placed on contemporary bridal trends and creating long-lasting, camera-ready looks. Students participated in practical sessions on self and models, including basic hair application, under the guidance of Ms. Mousumi Das, a renowned Beauty and Cosmetology faculty, and Mr. Anin N. Mullick.

The second day, dedicated to Fashion Photography, introduced students to core photography concepts including camera settings, exposure, composition, and lighting. Practical training encompassed portrait, landscape, fashion, and product photography, supported by live modeling exercises. The sessions were led by Mr. Pratap Dasgupta, a distinguished photography expert from Kolkata, along with Ms. Sona Boral and Mr. Anin N. Mullick.

The final day focused on Character and Stage Makeup, highlighting the differences between every day and theatrical makeup. Students learned exaggerated contouring for stage visibility, dramatic eye makeup, and the creation of character looks such as old-age, fantasy, and stage personas, under the expert guidance of Mr. Sk. Ishrafil, a renowned Tollywood makeup artist, along with Mr. Anin N. Mullick.

Overall, the workshop successfully bridged academic learning with real-world professional practices, significantly enhancing students’ creative confidence, technical proficiency, and industry preparedness.
